Since 1987

Friul Mosaic was founded in 1987 in San Martino del Tagliamento, born from the passion and artistry of Master Mosaicist William Bertoia. With the energy of two young partners and the talent of skilled craftsmen, the company began its journey in the creation of exceptional mosaics. Among the first collaborators was Natalina Querin, who today leads the artistic workshop.
Today, William’s vision lives on through his daughters, Barbara and Tiziana Bertoia, along with Nicola Avoledo, who guide the company with the same innovative spirit. Friul Mosaic is a reality that blends tradition and contemporary flair, with a team of over 30 highly skilled artisans trained at the prestigious Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in Spilimbergo.

HAMMER AND CHIESEL

Every mosaic artist has their own tools: their hammer and chisel.
These tools are extensions of the artisan’s hands, becoming part of them over the years. Every mosaicist develops a perfect intimacy with their tools, calibrating strength and precision in a personal and unique way.
No hammer, no chisel is exactly the same as another, and each tool is carefully guarded. Every mosaicist is protective of their own, as they know it’s the key to creating perfect works, with that special attention to detail that only a true master can give.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

I met the Tagliamento River as a child. My mother would take me on a bike ride early in the morning during the summer to breathe the fine, fresh air before the sun warmed the rocky expanses.
